A delegation from Tiền Phong newspaper and VPMilk gave gifts to pupils in especially difficult circumstances in two low-lying communes of Lục Yên District, Yên Bái Province.
On 27 June, Tiền Phong newspaper, the Yên Bái Provincial Youth Union and VPMilk JSC held a “Gift programme for disadvantaged pupils” in Phan Thanh and Tân Lập communes (Lục Yên District, Yên Bái Province). It was attended by Triệu Trí Lộc, Deputy Secretary of the Yên Bái Provincial Youth Union, Trần Tiến Hưng, Head of the Lục Yên District Party Committee's Propaganda Department, and representatives of local authorities.
In response to Tiền Phong's charity campaign “Supporting the frontline against the pandemic with Tiền Phong”, VPMilk ran the programme “Buy delicious VPMilk – 25% goes to disadvantaged children”, raising gifts worth VND 300 million: VND 150 million in cash and 300 cases of milk worth VND 150 million. The delegation set aside VND 100 million — VND 25 million in cash and 150 cases of milk — for 50 pupils in especially difficult circumstances, children of ethnic minority families in Phan Thanh and Tân Lập.

Journalist Nguyễn Huy Lộc, member of Tiền Phong's editorial board, and Ms Trần Thị Minh, VPMilk's Northern sales representative, present scholarships to ethnic minority pupils.
Speaking at the ceremony, journalist Nguyễn Huy Lộc thanked VPMilk for helping bring gifts to encourage primary and secondary pupils in especially difficult circumstances who have done well at school.
“Alongside the political tasks entrusted by the Central Youth Union, Tiền Phong runs many widely appreciated charity programmes such as Red Sunday blood donation, gifts for former youth volunteers, honouring war invalids and martyrs, and building bridges and charity houses…
This gift programme in Yên Bái both honours the tradition of gratitude and helps pass that tradition on to young people. The gifts from Tiền Phong and VPMilk aim to share the children's difficulties and encourage them to keep striving at school,” he said.

The delegation hands over milk to the commune Youth Union for the children's summer activities.

Tân Lập is one of the poorest communes in Lục Yên District.
Mr Vi Văn Phú, Chairman of the Commune People's Committee, explained that Phan Thanh is a region-III commune with especially difficult socio-economic conditions in the south of Lục Yên District, where 36% of households are poor and nine ethnic groups live, including Tày, Dao and Nùng. The local economy relies mainly on farming, forestry, aquaculture and fishing on Thác Bà Lake.

Only 5 km from Phan Thanh, Tân Lập is even poorer. The bumpy dirt road from the centre of Phan Thanh to Tân Lap is being widened and repaired. Hoàng Quang Hòa, Secretary of the commune Party Committee, said travel is hard even in dry weather, and when it rains the commune is almost cut off — only farm tractors can manage the slippery road.
Mr Hòa was moved by the delegation's care for the children of Tân Lập and Phan Thanh, most of them from local ethnic minority families, which brought them great encouragement.
